Art-ology recently had the honor of being hosted by Up2Youth, a dedicated nonprofit organization in Ontario, for a transformative art therapy session under our “Hues of Healing” program. This initiative uses the power of color to help youth explore and understand their emotions, fostering a space for healing and self-expression.
The session was designed to address the unique challenges faced by young individuals, particularly focusing on the experiences of older daughters in immigrant families. These young women often bear significant responsibilities and pressures, balancing cultural expectations with their personal aspirations and well-being.
Through the creative process, participants were encouraged to use colors to represent their feelings and stories. The discussions that followed were deeply moving, shedding light on the emotional strains and resilience of these young women. By sharing their experiences, the participants found solidarity and support, realizing they are not alone in their struggles.
This impactful session not only provided a therapeutic outlet but also created a platform for these young voices to be heard and understood. The collaboration between Art-ology and Up2Youth exemplifies the powerful role of art in community building and mental health support. Together, we are committed to continuing this vital work, empowering youth to navigate their journeys with strength and creativity.
