In a captivating convergence of art and mental wellness, Oui Talk hosted the event “Art Night with Art-ology” on January 12, 2024. The evening brought together a diverse group of over 50 participants eager to explore the fusion of artistic expression and open dialogue surrounding mental health.
The event commenced with a warm welcome and an engaging ice breaker, fostering a positive atmosphere. Participants shared their favorite forms of artistic expression and recounted memorable experiences related to art. Introductions followed, offering insights into Art-ology’s mission and the purpose of the event. To establish an open and supportive environment, organizers delved into the event’s guidelines. The discussion addressed common mental health challenges faced by college students, including stress, anxiety, academic pressure, transitional stress, depression, and sleep disorders.
The heart of the evening unfolded with an interactive session encouraging participants to explore their thoughts on mental health through artistic expressions. Paired activities, structured like speed dating, prompted discussions on coping mechanisms, favorite artistic expressions, and the transformative power of art for emotional well-being.
Participants were brought together for reflections on the activity, discussing how art could be seamlessly integrated into daily lives as a coping mechanism. Various techniques such as art journaling, mindful coloring, creative writing, music exploration, doodle therapy, and artistic meditation were introduced, emphasizing their therapeutic value.
With the theme “How do I want to show up this year,” the event reached its creative pinnacle. Participants immersed themselves in a guided art activity, exploring personal interpretations and expressions.
